bbPress, Ultimate Member, Ultimate Member – Google reCAPTCHA, and User Switching can change user roles and capabilities on your site. Could you try deactivating these plugins again?
If that doesn’t help, we’ll need to get rid of all Jetpack options that may still be left in your database, and then we’ll try again.
These options are stored in the wp_options
table, in the jetpack_options
row. You can delete the row to start from scratch.
You can use PHPMyadmin to delete options in your database. Your hosting provider has Some documentation about it here:
https://www.123-reg.co.uk/support/answers/Databases/Linux-MYSQL/how-do-i-administer-a-mysql-database-4176/
https://www.123-reg.co.uk/support/answers/cPanel/Databases/how-do-i-login-to-phpmyadmin-on-my-123-reg-vps-3260/
If you don’t feel comfortable making changes in your database manually, you could use this small plugin I just created for you, that will wipe the option from your database as soon as you activate it.
Of course, it’s important that you only use that plugin when the Jetpack plugin is deactivated, otherwise my plugin will keep deleting the options Jetpack tries to create when you activate it ??
Try the following:
- Deactivate the Jetpack plugin in the Plugins menu.
- Download this small plugin: https://i.wpne.ws/cF8b
- Go to Plugins > Add New > Upload.
- Upload and activate my little plugin.
- Load your main dashboard page to trigger my plugin.
- Go back to the Plugins menu, and deactivate, then delete my plugin.
- Activate the Jetpack plugin and try to connect it to WordPress.com.
Let me know how that goes!
