Maybe this is really straight forward, but I cannot seem to figure it out and can’t find an answer in knowledge database or FAQ…

I enabled the integration to add a checkbox to the Comment Form for signing up to a newsletter. However:
    – My Mailchimp has a required FNAME, LNAME, EMAIL field and an optional TOWN field.
    – The WordPress comment form is standard, so it has a NAME , EMAIL and WEBSITE field.

How can I change the fields in the Comment Form so that registering for the newsletter actually works? (now it is bounced by Mailchimp because it didn’t receive the required fields)

    Hello Johan,

I apologize for the delay in getting back to you.

With the comment form integration, our plugin passes the value of the “Name” field to either “NAME” or “FNAME” field in your MailChimp list. So far there is no other way to add support for LNAME.

I would recommend going to your MailChimp.com account and unchecking the required option for the “LNAME” field.

I regret that this is the only available solution for now. We will look into this to make it more dynamic.

Hello Harish, I’m thankful you got back to me anyway ??
    OK, so I gather that:
    a) There is not an easy way to change the fields displayed in the Comment form (not a plugin functionality, but WP functionality)
    b) There’s no mechanism (yet) to link fields in the Comment Form to links known within the MailChimp-for-wp plugin

Then I guess, I will just disable that option for now, thank you!

    Hi Johan,

If in the name field, a user adds something like “Harish Chouhan” our plugin can handle saving both separately in “FNAME” & “LNAME” fields.

Thanx, I solved it by using just one NAME field and it works perfectly. Used a separate plugin to disable the website field in the standard comment form.
