Hi all. Kindly assist if possible, noob here ??

I am creating an “adults only” website using a free WordPress theme, hosted with WebHost.Pro. As I am new to WordPress (simply loving it by the way), I am (1) not sure whether this is allowed by WordPress, and would also like to (2) confirm whether there are plugins “eg. WooCommerce” that allow such payments to be accepted (being adult related). I plan on using Paxum as a payment gateway, (3) please advise on whether there are any alternatives.

The exact service I am offering on the WordPress theme site is “creating adult websites” for clients, but my WordPress theme site may include erotic images, and will definitely include external links to demo-sites (which are hardcore tube sites).

Any response is appreciated, thank you all for your input and advice.

  • Hi webpreneurza,

There are no restrictions on the type of website you can host on WordPress (outside of local laws of course ?? ). WooCommerce looks to be fine based on your intended uses. I would also recommend an Age Gate but can’t really recommend one due to being biased(I’m a developer of one).

Hi AGSoft, thanks you for the prompt feedback (that was super fast!).

That’s great news. Should I confirm with WooCommerce though, just in case there’s a “grey area” in the T&C’s so to speak?

I Googled the definition of what an “Age Gate” is. I’m not sure whether this would be something provided by the payment gateway (provider) or perhaps a plugin on WordPress. From what I can make out, it involves capturing the customer’s credit card information, I’m not too comfortable with that. I have a very basic entry level SSL on the site, merely for customer’s peace of mind as well as contact form submissions.

Legally though, I intend implementing the basic “welcome and confirm 18+ to enter” landing page for users.

You’re welcome to respond further, thanks once again for your time.

WordPress is an open platform. Both in code (as you can see it if you really wanted to) and in content. There are absolutely no restrictions on what you can and can’t do. It’s great huh? WooCommerce is actually an Automattic (the company behind WordPress) plugin now so they share the same ideals. In other words, there’s no need to ask. ??

The age gate is typically not provided by the payment gateway unless you’re doing full age verification (which is rare, and not recommend as it’s really quite scary). Typically, by that point, the user you would have otherwise blocked would have already seen everything your site has to offer.

By age gate, I actually meant the landing page you’ve described there.

    Good luck. ??

    Hi again AGSoft.

    WordPress really is something amazing!

I must admit that I was pretty overwhelmed when I first setup the hosting plan, the wordpress app, the SSL, etc. But all in all, I have so arrive :). I feel as though I was sleeping underneath a rock for a very long time, it’s amazing how simple things seem now.

I’ve subsequently moved past the first page of my Google search, and found a hand-full of “Age Gate and Popup” plugins on WordPress. Seems like there’s a plugin for almost everything on WordPress, which saves me the time of setting up another landing page of sorts.

Thank you again for your help, really appreciated. Have a great day further.
