Can't update wordpress, plugins, or upload media

    Hi,
    I can’t update my WordPress site to 4.4.2. It tells me ‘Download failed: Failed to write request to temporary file’.
    I have contacted my web host but they have said it is a problem associated with WordPress. My plugins won’t update either.

    Also, I can’t upload media files anymore. It stopped working about 4 weeks ago and just says ‘Error saving media attachment’.

    I’m quite new to WordPress so I’m hoping to fix the problem rather than attempting a manual update etc
