    Hi Tobias,

I’m having a migration issue. When I try to migrate tables to TablePress using either the direct from existing database or a dump file, I get a gateway timeout error.

There are 187 table records to transfer from WP Tables Reloaded to TablePress. The timeout occurs after about 100 or so records.

There appears to be some amount of activity still ongoing after the timeout message appears, since additional records do appear for a couple of minutes.

If I try to run the migration process again, the plugin starts importing with the first old record and gives it the next available ID. This happens with both direct from database and dump file migration options.

I think the last option available to me (barring any alternative you can hopefully suggest) is to remove all table records from TablePress, uninstalling TablesPress (which should also remove all the incorrectly numbered table records), re-install the plugin and run the migration tool. This will fail, but will provide the first 100 or so records. From that point I will have to export each table manually from WP Table Reloaded (one at a time) and import it into TablePress (possibly using the zip feature to import multiple records at once).

If there’s a quicker or less painful alternative to the above, I’d appreciate some guidance.

    Many thanks
    Steve

    Hi Steve,

thanks for your question, and sorry for the trouble.

From what I can see, the best option here should be to at first try to find out why that timeout happens. Is it the PHP memory limit that is being reached, or the max execution time? Your webhost should be able to tell, from the error logs.
Then, it would make sense to maybe increase relevant limit.

Now, if you were able to create a complete dump file, and if you want to, you could also email that to me, and I’d try converting everything to a ZIP archive of TablePress tables, on my dev site. There, I shouldn’t run into these limits.

(To reset TablePress (i.e. delete all tables), you should use the corresponding button on the “Plugin Options” screen of TablePress, if you ever need to do this.)

    Regards,
    Tobias
