Hi, is it possible to work locally on my website but connecting to the live/production database?

I would think just pointing your DB_HOST in the wp-config.php file to your live DB would suffice. Have you tried this?

Not sure exactly what the benefit of doing so is or what you are trying to accomplish but yes, it is quite easy to do so ??

On your hosting account for the live site, go and enable Remote MySQL, using your IP as the value (your can get this by going to Google.com and just enter my ip).

While you are at your hosting control panel, copy the hosting account IP. This is the value you will use for hostname when you edit your local wp-config. Don’t forget to also edit the other values in wp-config so that they match the live DB credentials.

    Cheers!
