• Hello,

First, thanks for creating such a wonderful theme. I should also say that I’m a wordpress novice and this is my first proper website.

I have a small issue on the mobile version of my site https://www.chomi.org.

I have created a slider on this site which is generated automatically from the six most recent blog posts with featured images. In the Front Page section of the theme, for the ‘Link Post’ option I’ve selected ‘Entire slide and call to action button’.

However, only the ‘call to action button’ and not the entire slide provides a link to the post. This is not a problem on a pc or a laptop and I assume a tablet but on mobile devices the call to action button does not show and thus there is no way of clicking the slider to link to the post. I should say that otherwise the slider looks fine on my phone – the image scales very nicely.

As a work around, I’ve tried entering the code that I got here in the Custom CSS to hide the slider on mobile devices but it appears not to work.

I can also hide the slider on mobiles by using the jetpack plugin’s mobile option but this hides podcast subscription widgets that I’d really like to keep.

Ideally, in fact, I’d like to keep the slider on mobiles and just have the ability to click through to the post.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Thanks very much. I should create a child theme to do this?

You should always use a Child Theme!

OK. Will do and report back later on.

    Thanks again

Okay. Created a child theme and thanks for making me do that.

I’ve tried both versions of code on that page and all of the options regarding slider links (call to action; entire slide; or both).

If I click the slide – either on mobile or pc – it goes to the correct post, which is great. However, only the area of the slide outside of the post title area in the slider is clickable. This is a small border area and most people would expect to click the title in the slider to go to the post I think.

Is there any way to make the post title and/or excerpt which appears in the slide link to the post?

And then I got a white screen of death … with message
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘2’ (T_LNUMBER) in /home/public/wp-content/themes/child/functions.php on line 5
edited file taking out code and all seems right with the world; scary though as I really don’t know what I’m doing!
