Mods to Template Ater Upgrading

  • I’m looking at doing my first WordPress upgrade to the newest version from version 2.0.2

    I have extensively modified the layout and aesthetics of the template that I use and am wondering if all those modifications will have to be redone after the upgrade, or if they will still work with the new version.

    Does template customization need to be redone with each software upgrade?

  • it depends on what you modified in the template. Normally, the template just adjusts to the upgrade as long as the edits you made were strictly to the styling. That’s the purpose of templates.

    Occasionally there will be a new tag added that might change things but that doesn’t happen in every upgrade. Having said that, 2.5 is supposed to be a fairly extensive upgrade.
