Misunderstandings and fatal errors

  • I feel like this plugin could be just what I wanted, but I’m not sure.

    a. The plugin was recommended to me because I want to quickly and easily show input and textareas on my Edit User screens for my wp_usermeta data.
    But, honestly, I’m struggling to understand – from the website, description and plugin language – exactly what this does and how.

    b. I just went to the “Users: Details” and “Users: Directory” pages, but both are throwing this:
    “A shutdown was triggered, possibly a fatal error was caught. Please note the message below when reporting this.” There is no further message.

    c. It’s possible I’ll want to do more with this plugin, as I’m working with a very large user set and will want to output lists etc. But I’ve so far hand-coded list output as I’m trying to keep things as lightweight and native as possible, and I’d rather resolve and understand the above problems before going further.

    I guess the person who recommended made a mistake. This plugin does NOT do anything about allowing entry of data.
    It helps one report and list on data that has been created by other plugins. Of other plugins, ACF is probably more OK than some of the others https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/advanced-custom-fields/

    I’ll have to update the description to make it a bit clearer.

    It is heavy on memory. If you have a lot of users and user meta data, it may be crashing. It does try to pass through any message that the system gives, usually it’ll say memory exhausted, not sure what its problem is on your site. If you go to the ‘about’ section, it tries to tell about your system – check the php and wp memory as a start, and also your logs – you should be able to see what the problem is there. As some other sites say “default wp memory is ‘modest'” – if running a robust / large site, you may need to increase it.
