I just installed wordpress on my earthlink-hosted domain. They offer version 2.0.4. It worked fine, but I wanted to upgrade for security reasons.

So I unzipped and FTPed wordpress 2.3.3. Nothing works now: all pages are blank, such as wordpress/index.php and wordpress/wp-login.php. There are no error messages; just blank pages. Obviously, I did something stupid. So I’m thinking I will delete the blog from my domain and re-install it. Luckily, I hadn’t put transferred any content yet from my existing blog.

However, to do that, I think I need to delete my existing wordpress account or i will not be able to use my blog name, as it’s now associated with my broken wordpress blog.

Any ideas how to proceed? Thanks.

  • I just spoke with Earthlink tech support and apparently you can only run WP 2.0.4 on Earthlink-hosted sites as of the present. Of course they couldn’t say when they would upgrade.
