Remove header & footer – create landing page

Hi. I want to remove the header, logo, nav menu, footer etc from the home page (only) and use a simple shortcode to link to a slider plugin – creating a full-screen landing page, with no navigations at all.

I’ve tried all combinations of CSS to remove them, including page-id, #header #footer #credit etc – nothing seems to work. I’m on the brink of setting up a new php template for this (but worry my coding isn’t up to it) so want to see if a simple CSS fix will work.
