    Hi
I set up wp-cerber on a new site having used it successfully on a previous site and changed the login url from wp-admin. I received the notification email from wp-cerber but when I tried the link I received a page not found.
I also tried the old wp-admin login but this returned a server 500 error.
I downloaded the wp-cerber-reset.zip and unpacked it. As the file manager on my host only allows files and not folders to be uploaded I uploaded the only file in the folder: wp-cerber.php and replaced the existing one. This did not resolve the problem.
Foolishly (probably) I then deleted the settings file hoping that might resolve the problem. This did not work (as you would probably expect).
Can you help please as I am at the limit of my technical capability?
    Thanks
    Jon

    Hi!

    1. Remove the plugin folder wp-cerber manually (e.g. using FTP).
    2. Log in to the site as usual using wp-login.php.
    3. Reinstall plugin and clear Custom login page section on the Main settings screen of the plugin. I mean clear Custom login URL field and uncheck Disable wp-login.php.
    4. Test the plugin. If the rest of the settings and functionality will work fine that means there is some conflict with theme you have installed.
    5. Let me know the result.

    Hi Gioni
Thanks once again for your very prompt reply.
I have followed your instructions but unfortunately when you reinstall the plug-in, clear the custom login url and uncheck the Disable wp-login.php the same problem arises and I get a 404 error on the next login at wp-admin.
I don’t think it’s the theme that is causing the problem as I have another site using the Genesis framework and all the same other plug-ins and everything works fine. The only difference with this site is that it has a different host server. I’ll try their support desk and see if they have some security feature that may be causing the conflict.
In the meantime, if you have any other suggestions I’d be most grateful.
    Thanks

    Hi jmortimer01!

Does that 404 error appear when you are trying to access /wp-login.php directly? What do you get if you try to enter https://yoursite/wp-login.php in the address bar of your browser?

    Hi Gioni
That works and I can get into the site with wp-cerber active that way but the original problem when changing the login url is still there. Is it possibly a conflict with Wordfence and the login attempts limiting feature in that plug-in is it?
    Thanks

Have you checked Redirect dashboard requests? If so, you can’t use /wp-admin/ links to go to the login page anymore (using built-in redirecting WP feature).
