Hi, just wondering if there is a way to add text as an overlay on the image or underneath? This is not for the thumbnails, but the full sized image in a slideshow, gallery, lightbox or whatever. I’m not just talking about a short description or title but potentially several sentences. Hopefully the answer is not using photoshop to manipulate each image!

    Thanks, Glenn

@https://www.ads-software.com/support/profile/gnewby – Have you looked at all of the Lightbox libraries that are bundled with NextGEN Gallery as a convenience? Some of them will display the image “Description” …

… as to gallery display images linking to a specific URL, not directly but you can put that link your description so it will be available to your visitors from that view.

    Thanks!

Don’t I need the pro version to get a lightbox? I’m just reviewing the free version and if I can get this working I will buy the pro version. How do I access the “libraries”? I just started working with the plugin yesterday.

I did get a slideshow show the image description underneath it and it would have been perfect except the text went off the bottom of the screen with no ability to roll it up and view the rest of it.

Also I have a bug with the slideshow, when I click the X on the top of the image the slideshow does not close… it does respond by taking the X away, the navigation goes and the border goes. So its kind of stuck, however if I click somewhere on the background it does return to the thumbnail list.

Sorry this went from a feature inquiry to a bug report… will get all the info you need shortly.

This appears to be a theme issue, my theme is Pinnacle by Kadence themes. I will be reporting this to them as well.
The main issue here is that when you click on an image from the thumbnails and go to the full screen view (what’s that called?), it won’t close properly when you click on the X as I described in a previous post/

I deactivated all plugins and no change, however it works on other themes like Hueman and 2016.

This site is brand new and everything is up to date. Hosting is https://www.hostutopia.com

@https://www.ads-software.com/support/profile/gnewby – There definitely appears to be an issue with duplicate Lightbox libraries being called … I would suspect either your theme (as you have noted) or another active plugin that provides a Lightbox.

Also to note, NextGEN Gallery display does not appear to be active on your site …

Sorry, was trying some other gallery plugins to see if they had the same problem… and they do. Given that NextGEN is my preferred choice I’m going to try and stick with that.
I don’t have any other plugins activated except contact form and the toolkit for my theme.
Have you got a moment to take a quick peek again? Although it certainly looks like my theme.

@gnewby – If there is only your current theme and NextGEN Gallery active then the second Lightbox would be most likely from your theme.

You appear to be using the NextGEN Gallery Fancybox, and the theme is referencing “mfp” but I am not familiar with which library that would be.

You can either turn off the Lightbox Effect in NextGEN Gallery under Gallery > Other Options > Lightbox Effects … set to No Lightbox; or you can work with your theme author to sort out how to turn off its Lightbox Effect.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.
