Clicking an image has unexpected results

  • Twenty Ten v2.1 does not open the full size version when you click on an image in a blog post, although that is expected behaviour on the Internet. Therefore most people probably think there is no larger image and do not go further. But those who realize that this image is still clickable and who don’t think a click will only take them back to the blog post will get a surprise: It opens another image! At first I was sure this was a bug, but it is probably an intended feature.

    Strong wish: Let a click on the image in this new one-image-window really open the same image in full resolution. You may well supply prev/next buttos for those who want to browse all other images, but don’t use image click for that.

    Another wish: There is a tiny link “Full size is 1200×687 pixels” which is now the only way to reach the full size image. But this text could be taken as an info that current image is already the full size version and this is its size. Please change the page info to prevent all such misunderstanding and to make clear that there is a larger imgare version available.

    In short: Make it more clear what is shown and use expected means for navigation.

    I still think that the new behavior when clicking on an image is quite unexpected and baffling. It is like a few streets in a right hand traffic country actually have left hand traffic, and every new visitor has to learn by trial and error that they work differently.

    I found out that it is possible to get the normal behavior by editing the images and select Link to = Media file. It can’t be done during the first insertion, so I always have to edit that afterwards. I wish there would be a general Setting > Media option to give me Link to = Media file as the default.

    I would be glad to learn about opinions from others about this.
