    Hi-

We’re loving the ThirstyAffiliates plugin. It’s helping bring in a lot of $!

We have a very high traffic site running WP Super Cache (behind a dedicated Varnish server). The database is also on it’s own dedicated server.

    We’re running:
    ThirstyAffiliates
    ThirstyAffiliates Autolinker Addon
    ThirstyAffiliates Google Click Tracking
    ThirstyAffiliates Htaccess Redirect

    PROBLEM:

When we Delete Cache in WP Super Cache, our CPU Load skyrockets and cripples the site for 5-7 minutes.

If we deactivate the ThirstyAffiliates Autolinker Addon prior to performing the Delete Cache operation and then reactivate afterwards we do not experience the problem.

It’s a pita to have to deactivate the Autolinker each time we Delete Cache and someone (me) usually forgets to do it which ends up in a temporarily crashed site.

    Any help appreciated.

  • Hi five40,

I’m curious why you’re running double caching? Varnish will override anything you’re doing with WP Super Cache, so you might as well choose one or the other, right?

When you delete the cache it sounds like it then goes through and hits every single page on your site to re-cache or something. That would be the only reason why it would skyrocket the CPU on clearing.

If this is the case it’s pretty expected that you’d encounter a problem because Autolinker would be called very heavily to replace all the affiliate links.

Unfortunately there’s not a lot we can do in this case other than following the workaround you’ve already determined.

Hope this makes sense and gives you some clues!

    Cheers,
    Josh
