Block Visitors by city

  • Hello, I know its possible to block visitor wit IP address or by entire country. But i want to block visitor from a city from Canada.

    Someone from Oranngeville city of Canada is copying our content and publishing on their own website. He refused to give credit to our work and also refused to remove it. I tried DMCA notice but after few days he changed URL of content to get articles index in google search and adsense running again. So i decided to ban anyone who visit our website from that city.

    Is it possible?

  • If you have an IP address table for that city, then yes.

    But… Are they hosting the site in that city, or is that city just where the site is targeted? If they are hosting the site somewhere else blocking that city won’t make any difference at all.

    The best thing that you can do is find out what IP address(es) the site is running under and block those from accessing any data from your server. You will probably need to talk to your hosting company about how to accomplish that.

    Admin of that site is from Orangeville, Canada. And 100% sure that he is managing that site alone and has no other memebers. So if i block all the visitors from that city than probably i can block him accessing my website. I am also trying to find his IP address to block him. If there any way to find his IP address using Google nalytics or any other way please tell me

    I’ve also started using Clicky – an alternative to Google Analytics because it allow to see visitors IP address.

    You’ll need to find a good geo-IP database and use that. There’s many different methods out there, and they all work according to how much they cost (free ones are hit-and-miss, expensive ones are as accurate as possible).
