  • Hi justillon,

When I visit the link you provided above, the FAQs function properly (they expand and close), except for when you click on the Permalink link, which brings you to a 404 error page.

Have you tried resetting your WordPress permalinks by going to Settings > Permalinks and just clicking Save Changes?

The second point you make is indeed the correct behaviour. If you choose “Same Page” for “Permalink Type”, it means the permalink icon will open the main FAQ page.

Well, I’ve tried “Settings > Permalinks and just clicking Save Changes?” but still get 404 errors from the permalinks ??

    Hi justillon,

    Thank you for trying that.

Would you know if your theme (or maybe another plugin) could have any other rewrite rules that might be causing this?

Are you using the premium version? If so, in the “Premium” area of the settings, do you have “Pretty Permalinks” set to “Yes” or “No”? Could you try switching it to the opposite setting to see if that helps?

Also, if you are using the premium version, have you changed the value for the “FAQ Slug Base” setting at any point? This is also found in the “Premium” area of the settings.

    Thanks for your answer.

I am using the MH Magazine Theme.

In the .htaceess in the index directory there is nothing to see that could overwrite rewrite rules.

    How could I found more?

I am using the Free version.

    Hi,

also I don’t really understand the funciton of the “same site” permalink. I would expect it to expand the FAQ that is linked. However I just get to the FAQ site without anything expanded. Is this intended?

    Live Demo:
    https://justillon.de/faq/

Maybe you can check why nothing happens? Guess it’s only Javascript?

    Hi Justillon,

The “Permalink Type” option allows you to select whether it opens the main FAQ page or that individual post. It is not for selecting whether or not it opens in a new tab/window.

When I visit your page, the FAQs do expand and close. Is this not happening on your end?

    Thanks for your answer.

What i meant was: If if chose the “same site” option for the permalinks and I click one of the permalinks. Shouldn’t the chosen FAQ question expand when I click the permalink?

I think that is what is supposed in your plugin. At least you have the EWD_UFAQ_Reveal_FAQ function in your Java Script. However on my site nothing expands when a permalink is clicked. Looks like the Javascript doesn’t work.

You may check that on the link above.

    Thank you for your help!

    EDIT:
    For example: https://justillon.de/faq/?Display_FAQ=8787

Shouldn’t the question with ID 8787 be expanded?

    Hi Justillon,

It looks like a problem with same page permalinks was introduced when we updated to allow multiple shortcodes/widgets on the same page.

We’ve put out a little update to correct the problem.

Dived a little bit into your JS. Seems like EWD_UFAQ_Reveal_FAQ does not deliver a correct value. Hence nothing can’t be expanded because the script does not get the right div ID.

For example EWD_UFAQ_Reveal_FAQ delivers the string ufaq-body-8784-2 however the DIVs real ID is id=’ufaq-body-mhn-8784-2′. Do not know what the “mhn” does stand for but it look likes those 3 letter get changed with every site impression. But the EWD_UFAQ_Reveal_FAQ does not include those 3 letters in the IDs name. Hence the FAQ question does not get expanded.

Hope that helps you to fix the bug.

    Thanks

    Ok, you were faster!

Just installed the update and it does work now!

Time to get all the questions in and then probably will upgrade to the pro version.

    Thank you!
