Hi there!

I wonder if you could help.

I am making use of the featured products shortcode in woocommerce and the customer I am working for would like to see a brief description of their products below the product title where the featured products are displayed. Would anyone be able to help with this?

I have looked on various other forums and the help seems to be quite out of date.

Any help that could be provided would be most useful.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your extremely rapid response. Your answer was certainly not out-of-date, having been posted only 10 days ago!

And it worked! Now all I have to do is work out how to shorten the outputted text to a certain number of characters!

It’s probably really obvious, but my knowledge of php and php with wordpress is quite limited.

You’ll need to use a function like https://php.net/manual/en/function.substr.php to trim the length. Get the full excerpt with:

global $post;

echo $post->post_excerpt;
```

The featured products are now displaying with a truncated description.
