After upgrading to version 2.5 my index page looks fine. When I try to login the page does not appear to be re-directing correctly. No message is given and it appears as if I need to login again.

It is allowing me to request a new password VIA e-mail. The new password is entered with my username and it appears to be trying to access the login page but can’t. Usually it tells you when you enter and incorrect username or password (It does not in this case).

I personally believe it is a re-direct issue with wp-login.php: Any suggestions?

Here is the re-direct link example: https://mysite.com/wordpress/wp-login.php?redirect_to=%2Fwordpress%2Fwp-admin%2F

FYI: I use yahoo hosting and installed the first version VIA a plugin yahoo hosting has. I upgraded to 2.5 using the instructions for upgrade per wordpress.

  • We are havening the same problem here as well.. can anyone help.. I can’t login its saying that the user name and password is incorrect. please try again.

I was having the same issue, and I got mine to work again by following step 7: Delete the old WordPress files & upload new-

I’ve upgraded a number of my sites (by the way I then un-upgraded and went back to 2.5)
    The basics:
You must deactivate all your plugins first!!!!!
Most times your password is wrong after the update.
Go to your mysql database – Click on the “browse” button over “Users”
The new page will show us your info for uses. Your password is encrypted or whatever and looks like goobly gop. Delete this and put in either your original password or a new one. Then click on the fold down button to the left of the password you just entered. Select MD5 This is very important or it won’t work. That’s it …. you should be able to get into your upgraded wordpress

Great help on this topic. Thanks.

I’m at the same issue. But I didn’t deactivate all the plugins first – as I didn’t on my other installs – which went fine (10 of them). This one though is different. I tried the whole remove the files, add them again, and that didn’t seem to help.

I fixed this problem by going into /wp-admin/admin.php file and removing the if statement that looks for the database version. Not sure if this is a good fix or not. But I did it only after it had run the database version upgrade and the new version is posted in the options table.
