Page Limit?
-
I’ve run into a snag with what I believe to be a page limit on the Longevity theme. Anyone else have this issues and or know why I’m dealing with it?

What do you mean page limit?
I have a website for multiple locations (hamiltonpt.com) and we are trying to give it a facelife with the Longevity theme. I’ve added a ton of pages and it’s removed some automatically. I try to re-add another menu option and it won’t save it. It just disappears. Which is very frustrating.
Do note that we have 7 locations and we want this theme to work out (it took us a month to decide on it and didn’t find any indication that there was/is a page limit) and we need multiple drop down menu options for each location.
The link you posted is the link to this post ??
Anyway, from what you are experiencing does sound frustrating. However, I can gaurantee you it’s not the theme causing this phenomenon. It sounds like this might be related to WordPress, or perhaps a plugin conflict.
Themes, in general, do not (or even automatically) remove pages from a site, nor do they have page limits. Themes here at www.ads-software.com go through very strict reviews (at least two) and any restrictions are not allowed. But to look into this more, I have a few questions:
- Did this only happen once you activated Longevity?
- When you add pages and click Publish, the pages are simply gone from the “Pages” section of the admin?
- You mentioned adding another menu option. You mean adding pages or creating a new menu?
I did a quick look in Google about pages disappearing in WordPress. Sure enough, there are some results showing this happening to people.
Type this in Google:
wordpress adding pages disappear
Better yet, here is a search for the last year:
https://www.google.ca/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=wordpress+adding+pages+disappear&tbs=qdr:yWell that was super, wasn’t it? ?? Whoops! Here you go: https://558.524.myftpupload.com/
Next to Corvallis should be Stevensville, then Florence, then Frenchtown. Once I added more pages to menues under Darby -> Specialties, it automatically removed Corvallis through Frenchtown. I played around with it and removed another page and it let me add Corvallis again.
I started from scratch with Longevity. I did not apply it to our current site as we are not ready to go live with it yet. For menus, I create pages then add those pages to the menus for drop down options. No lie, I have close to 100 pages.
I’m not sure if it is all making sense…
Also… I’ve tried re-adding them. They won’t save. Even when I click save. It disappears from the bottom of my menu list.
I just typed up an entire response and hit post and it’s gone….. let’s try this again.
Oh today is just lovely….
Okay, here is the link to our tentative website (longevity): https://558.524.myftpupload.com/
1. Yes and no. I started with Longvegity from scratch because we weren’t ready for hamiltonpt.com to go live with the new layout. (It took us a month to agree on this design).
2. The pages are still populated within the pages list… but when I try to add them to the menu I find the page I want to add, click add, and click save. Then it disappears. It won’t save a page in the menu now.
3. I removed one page from the menu and it let me add one page to the menu, which in turn lead me to believe that there is a page limit.
I’ve tried re-adding the missing pages to the menu(s) over and over and it won’t save them. Granted, I DO have around 100 pages that are published. I’m not sure is this is making sense.
OK, then there’s something wrong with your site’s WordPress, a plugin conflict somewhere, or it could even be a database problem.
This actually might be something to post in the WordPress support forums to see if there is a solution for you.
UPDATE: Thanks for the additional info and the link.
So if I understand this right, your pages are intact, it’s just that the menu is not keeping the extra pages? If true, it sounds like WordPress has a menu limit.
Pages are made and published but will not continue to save in the menu(s).
I’m starting to realize it take a moment or these to post…..
I did a few searches on menu limit size with WordPress…it kind of looks like there is or related to the server. For example, this post (a very long read) https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/menu-size-limit?replies=33
Then I found this:
https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-the-custom-menu-items-limit-in-wordpress/
I’m reading that this is a server issue and not WordPress or Theme related. Yet, GoDaddy refuses to help in any way shape of form and always tells me to Google it or YouTube it…
Godaddy is not on a top list of hosting choices for many people, but if they are refusing to help you, this might be a scenario to change hosts if this is the case. However, if you decide to move, ask potential host providers if they can accommodate your website needs before signing up.
Can you give any recommendations that aren’t crazy expensive? I’m not a pro – which is why I love WordPress. I know enough to do small manipulations… but anyone else around here won’t know what’s what and what’s best. Heck, I don’t even know…. Which is where a lot of the frustration comes in because at this point, I don’t know what I should do or where to even start. Especially where we wouldn’t have to eat what we have already paid through them and pay extra. AND uses WordPress. I would have two sites to rebuild.
I can totally understand as well…I normally don’t recommend hosts, but perhaps my blog post “How to find the right web host” might give you some guidance. I do mention who I use there, but I know some people use hostgator.
Make sure whoever you decide to move to, can accommodate what you need to do for your site. I’d also make sure they are using the latest PHP version, MySQL, etc.
