• Good Morning,
I am experience permalink problems, the website host name has recently been swapped but some like work and some don’t for example the ‘blog’ ’gallery’ section of the site does not work but the ‘our magazines; does? When the page is clicked displayed in the address bar, some say the old URL and some say the new one but the old URL pages work but the new one doesn’t? The confusing thing is the permalinks all have the same URL ‘www.thescenemagazine.co.uk’

Do I need to contact the ‘Blue Host’ about these pages as this is the box that pops up?

  • The box that pops up and says Blue Host is a 404 error, it’s just telling you the page you clicked on was not found on the site. It’s not a Blue Host issue, it may be a permalinks issue, possibly also a custom menu URL issue. The magazine section is working, and it’s using a permalink like this:

    /#section-397/

The blog link, on the other hand, is:

    /Blog/

(I did not add the domain name to the permalink because I was be re-directed to semps.website.com, not thescenemagazine.co.uk. I’m not sure if that’s what is supposed to happen or not.)

The first thing to check is whether you have permalinks set to Plain (Default) or something else in Settings. When I look at the cached version of the site in Google, the permalink for the blog is:

    /#section-477/

The next thing to look at is your custom menu, assuming you’re using one. Is it possible that in your custom menu, you are using the /Blog/ permalink in the URL, but have permalinks set to Plain/Default or a different version than it was using the old domain?
