• Hi I’m very new to build website.
I was using Mcirosoft Webmatrix to install wordpress to build website. I accidentally clicked ‘delete website and contents’. Then I restored from recycle bin and open the website file again in the webmatrix.
Now when I tried to log in the wordpress in local host, it gives me error “This site can’t be reached

    localhost refused to connect.
    ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED”

I noticed the orginal URL is https://localhost:41240/
The new URL is the another number after restore example : https://localhost:58895
So If I manually change the URL back to https://localhost:41240/. It can work again. However, if I don’t remember the 41240 number, is there anywhere I can find in the website files?

BTW, how to backup our website with wordpress so I can restore properly if I deleted it again?

    Thanks,
    Eric

  • I’m not sure how to find the 41240 number. Possible look for it through ftp but hopefully someone else can help you there.

There is a WordPress plugin called “BackUpWordPress”. Make sure that after installing it you activate it and go into tools/backups and configure it. Backup files and database and configure how many you want to save in WordPress. I wouldn’t save too many, I save 5. Also, don’t forget to make a backup before you make each change and download it to your local computer.
