Contact Form 7 forms won't save (new or updating) – blank page

Hi there,
I have a multisite install with contact form 7 (latest version) installed. I’m trying to set up a new form, but whenever I click save the page goes to a completely blank white page with nothing on it – and the form is not saved.
I’ve tried the following:
Different browsers
Log in & out
Check server error logs (none present)
Saving existing sample form (same issue)
Duplicating sample form (same issue on trying to edit the duplicate)
Saving a blank form
Using both the save button at the bottom of the page and on the right of the page
deactivating all plugins
using twenty fifteen themeNB – the white screen is only in this instance – I can navigate the admin area as normal, this doesn’t appear to cause lasting issues (like a blank screen of death), it just doesn’t save the form or go to anywhere.
