Host Caching or W3 Total Cache – or both?

I’m running W3 Total Cache with settings recommended by my host, iPage. iPage also has general and WP-specific caching which can be turned on/off in the iPage control panel. Is it a good idea to disable either the iPage caching or W3TC? Or does it matter? I have tried it both ways and there is no noticeable difference in speed. It’s just a pain to have to empty multiple caches when I’m working on the site and I want to make sure I’m not asking for trouble by having two caches.
