• My website is hosted by Digital Space and that is where I created my blob. I don’t remember receiving an email with my API number, nor do I see it listed in the account management section of my blog. I tried to register at WordPress, but I still can not find the number. Any suggestions?

Yes, but I don’t understand what part of your question is not answered by reading the given link:
    https://wordpress.com/api-keys/

Really, it tells you exactly how to do it, right here:
    https://wordpress.com/api-keys/

If you have a more specific question, we’re happy to help, but for now, your question can be answered on this page:
    https://wordpress.com/api-keys/

Otto. You are the one who needs to freaking read the page. It tells you ABSOLUTELY NOTHING if you are hosting your woredpress blog through another service. I can sign up with WordPress.com right now, but it will not help me with my WordPress blog that I hosted somewhere else, that is what pastortg is bringing up, and it is insanely frustrating.

but it will not help me with my WordPress blog that I hosted somewhere else

uh, yes it will gabe, which is why i linked to it.

    How do I get one?

When you sign up for a WordPress.com account we will email you an API key. If you already have a WordPress.com account, your API key is listed on your profile page, which you can get to by clicking the “My Account” link in the top right when you’re logged in.

it makes no diff. where your blog is hosted.

if you really wanted to employ some critical thinking skills it talks about installed the askimet plugin .. etc.. fwiw, thats only done on self hosted blogs.
