• Hi Ben,

I just did the newest wordpress update and now I can’t upload any photos so I can’t create any new posts. I was researching and it says this has happened with a few themes not being compatible to whatever 4.5 changed. Do you know if anyone else is having this issue or how to resolve it?? I am really nervous because I don’t know how to properly backup my site so I just updated immediately. I feel stupid! I can’t go back now to the previous so I’m just stuck….

  • I activated the theme and it seemed to work have you tried disabling your plugins and uploading a picture. It might be a plugin that is having problem and not the theme.

I am also having issues after the update! It doesn′t show anymore the “set featured image” button, and also the category and page setups in at the portifolio pages. I dont know what to do =(

    Hi Collette,

I’m so sorry to hear that!

Version 1.49.1 of Tracks (current version) has been tested for WordPress 4.5 already. Are you on the newest version of Tracks right now?

If you are, this is most likely a conflict with a plugin. The fastest way to debug this is to temporarily deactivate all plugins, and then reactivate them one-by-one until the error returns.

You won’t lose any of your plugin settings during this process.

ahh okay.. that may be what the problem is! You helped me set up a child theme at some previous point (I don’t remember why but I can research if needed) and that’s what I am on for tracks. I always update when it says there is one available though, so does that automatically update my child theme?

I can’t find what version anywhere…. where would I look to confirm? I just see “active theme- tracks child” and “WordPress 4.5 running Tracks Child theme”.

In the Appearance menu, find Tracks and click on it. A popup will show and you can see the current version of Tracks under the name.

So, in the Tracks child (which is my selected current theme) it says Version 1.0, but I do have an option to choose Tracks which is the theme right next to it. When I do that one says Version 1.49.1 but there is a button that says Activate.

Is the child theme behind and not updating when you update? If I activate it I will lose whatever we had created the child theme for, correct? I need to find that thread and remember why we made it because I’m not sure what the previous issue was. But I definitely want to be current and hopefully that will at least allow me to post! The site still looks great and functions, I just can’t do anything to it.

Found it! We set up a child theme because my comments weren’t working for my recipes.

Where to I go from here? Because that child theme worked perfectly, but I want to make sure I am on the most recent update so that it works with the new wordpress and I can hopefully keep posting….

    Sure let me explain:

The child theme version runs separately from Tracks, so it is okay for it to be on version 1.0. The site is technically still running the Tracks theme at v1.49.1, but on top of that, it also uses a little bit of code from the Tracks child theme. As long as the Tracks theme is being updated, there should be no problem there.

The errors since updating are most likely coming from a plugin on the site, so I would recommend temporarily deactivating them to check this. To check if the Tracks child theme is responsible, you can activate the Tracks theme via the Appearance menu temporarily. You’ll be able to switch back to the Tracks child theme without issue if it doesn’t fix the errors.

It is not a tracks issue, because I switched back and forth and still encounter the problem… so that means it’s a plugin somehow. I’ll figure it out! Thanks for walking me through it!

I deactivated every plugin and even switched back to original tracks and it still isn’t working. at this point I am completely stumped. I am on forums for the wordpress update now and when i figure this out i will let you know on this thread in case it helps someone else with the same issue!

Okay thank you for trying that. That would be great if you could post the solution here!
