    Driving me mad this

New setup, reading google all day and they say its possible but I just cant get it to work ??

I sell photography, and want to sell it as a digital option as well as physical for the same item

So I have a picture for sale it comes in 3 sizes (variable product) but cant seem to add an option to add it as a digital download (want to offer 2 sizes) guessing variable again.

    This is what i want

    PICTURE

    • BUY PRINT 1
    • BUY PRINT 2
    • BUY PRINT 3

    DIGITAL DOWNLOAD

    • BUY DOWNLOAD 1
    • BUY DOWNLOAD 2

I cant get it to setup correctly, as a variable it wants to add BUY PRINT 1 + BUY DOWNLOAD 1

I dont want that I want it to do either or

    BUY PRINT 1

    or

    BUY DOWNLOAD 1

Any ideas on whats the best way to achieve this please ?

    Thanks

Variable product is correct – attribute called FORMAT with options:

    Print 1, Print 2, Print 3, Download 1, Download 2

    OR

    FORMAT and SIZE with options:

    Print, Download
    1, 2, 3

Thanks Mike, I was kinda leading to that

I wanted to try and keep them separate so there not bunched into one group as one option in the shop

When I added them like your first example they showed in the shop like this:

    PICTURE

    1. BUY PRINT 1
    2. BUY DOWNLOAD 1
    3. BUY PRINT 2
    4. BUY PRINT 3
    5. BUY DOWNLOAD 2

Ill have a play, might take some re-thinking

Thanks for the fast reply ??

I think you can do the two attributes, then setup a variation for each. Should work fine.

I cant do it as 2 attributes it wants me to choose two options then

wouldn’t let me choose BUY PRINT 1 or BUY DOWNLOAD 1 as a single entity

It would only give me options to choose

BUY PRINT 1 + BUY DOWNLOAD 1 or BUY DOWNLOAD 2 as a single option

    hence my frustration

I think its going to be a nightmare what ever I do, I have about 150 products selling as “print” or “canvas” as separate stock but wanted to offer digital downloads as well… lots of work ??

Might have to think of something else

You’re not setting it up how I suggested?

    Again:

    Format: PRINT or DOWNLOAD
    Size: 1, 2, or 3

    Thread Starter Bob

    (@jamespictures)

    Yeah that works ??

Thanks Mike… can grow some more hair now!

    Spoke to soon haha

    Ive got this now

    Format: PRINT or DOWNLOAD
    Size: 1, 2, or 3 & DL1 & DL2

But it lets me me choose any combination which is not how it should be

So it lets me choose DOWNLOAD + Size 1 for example… price doesn’t work as a result

Even if I choose the right combination the price doesnt change as supposed to

Cheers for your help Mike, going to KISS it (Keep It Simple Stupid)

After setting up the attributes you need to map the variations to the various attributes and set prices for each.

Yeah ive done that over 10 times now in all sorts of combinations trying to get it to work, its not playing cricket… Tried setting the variations myself, then selected the “create variations from all products” but its still having a hissy

Im actually tech savvy and this is a mare

    Its my theme!!

the drop down selcts dont work, so ive added a radio button mod and its working now…

    (@mikejolley)

Odd. Was the default theme ok?

    Thread Starter Bob

    (@jamespictures)

Default theme used radio buttons and was fine, my purchased theme used drop downs to select products and did not work… works now though with a radio button mod

Default themes should not use radios. We use select boxes for variable products by default.
