    Hi there,

can anyone confirm that? Seems that since WP 4.5 I can not use this plugin for category pages anymore.
My page loads all the standard widgets on a category page, not the defined widgets.
In the Category settings, the plugin options are still there but uneditable (e.d. drag&drop does not work anymore).
Everything else seems to work as usual.

    Used theme is customizr.

    Thanks much,

    Thomas

A downgrade to WP 4.4.2 brought the functionality back. So, I guess, a rogue plugin can be excluded.

    Is there no solution?

The plugin “Jetpack” offers kind of the same functionality in the “Widget Visibility” Module.
Anyway, this is kind of an (overkill) workaround and not a solution, though.

I would prefer to stay with WP Page Widget, as adjusting everything to a new plugin is a more than cumbersome process.

    How did you downgrade gisol?

    Hi 1-jah,

basically with a backup of the WP 4.4.2 database I created prior the update to 4.5 and a fresh install of WP 4.4.2

Server side (WP is installed in the director “Foobar”)
    Restore the database backup.
Rename the 4.5 directory to something else e.g. Foobar4.5
Create a new directory with the name of the old (Foobar), download the 4.4.2 WP core and unpack it there.
Copy the wp-configure.php from Foobar4.5 to Foobar
Copy the contents of wp-content from Foobar4.5 to Foobar. I think I omitted the language directory here.
Try to open your site Foobar and open the dashboard. After some automatic database cleanup 4.4.2 was back.

That did the trick for me, depending on plugins, themes, whatever, your mileage may vary.
Not sure of any side effects, I did that for testing only. But so far everything looked like it’s working an in place.

Before you do anything: Create backups of everything!

Thanks, I’ll remember that for next time. This happen to be one of the very rare occasions I did not back it up and the last backup would lose content. Fingers crossed the author fixes the bugs.

***This applies to those that do not have widgets in their sidebars at the moment.

Just wanted to add a temporary fix to the issue. I discovered that the categories sidebar is set to default. So take the most popular or fav widgets and add them to you default sidebar in the widgets settings. The only downfall is that all categories will have the same widgets. I know. Bummer. But on the bright side any empty categories will have widgets now and you can still customize posts and pages.

    Still no update?

Thank you for all feedbacks, we are fixing and will give updates soon.

Please try again with updated version and let me know if that works.

    Thanks a lot!

Seems that everything is back to normal now.
Widgets on Category pages can be configured again.

I actually gave up awhile ago and am using a different plugin now. My live sites can’t wait too long for updates. I still recommend your plugin to anyone. You do awesome work man!

OK it works thank you for the update
