Custom Template

Hi,
I have create a new file template-home_custom.php and saved it in themese directory. I would customized my homepage (Deleting menu and so on..)
BUT when I create a new page and assign the custom template, in the right column, in the page attributes tab, I don’t see ma template in the drop down list of template list. I see only the following value: default template, contact, everbrite events, frontpage and full width.
How should I add my custom template in this list?
