• Warning, I’m a newbie, please forgive if I’ve missed giving some info.

We have a WordPress blog that we are hosting. Added a post about 48 hours ago and since then, the blog has been inaccessible.

    https://www.leewochner.com/blog

I searched the forum and FAQs and see that other’s have had this problem but cannot seem to find a solution anywhere. The database is fine, no settings have been changed, no add-ons or widgets added, this just happened a little while after a post had been made.

I feel helpless since I know nothing about programming and feel that I’m not giving enough info to get a help. I’m open to any advice or suggestions on what we can be do to get the blog back up and running.

    Thank you for your help,
    Amy

Anybody out there that might have some advice? Please?

I’m not sure how just adding a post could have done this. Did someone logged in as admin make ANY changes at all to your theme files?

    This is accessible, *https://www.leewochner.com/blog/wp-content/themes/*

    as well as this, *https://www.leewochner.com/blog/wp-content/plugins/*

    and this, *https://www.leewochner.com/blog/wp-includes/*

    This URI: *https://www.leewochner.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php*,
would usually produce the message: “You appear to have already installed WordPress. To reinstall please clear your old database tables first.”, but instead it serves a blank page… as does every other directory.

At first guess, and I am only guessing, I can’t tell what version you are using, but judging by last modified dates on the files in your wp-includes folder, I will guess that it might be 2.3.3. If you were to try this URI; *https://www.leewochner.com/blog/wp-content/themes/default/* under normal circumstances, you should probably get a blank page. In your case you get this: Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_header() in /public_html/blog/wp-content/themes/default/index.php on line 1

If you are positive that it is not a database corruption, and you can think of nothing you may have edited, deleted or added via FTP, perhaps re-uploading the wordpress files (taking care to not copy over any you have modified, such as your wp-config, or theme files), may do the trick. You didn’t by any chance make copies of the index.php file that comes in the wp-content folder and place it anywhere else, did you? (It’s the one with the “silence is golden” message in it),

It really seems like perhaps there has been an edit made in the wrong index.php file. Re-uploading it from a fresh WordPress download .zip may help.

    Just a thought.

    Best of luck to you.

After looking a little further, this may or may not always be the case. I understand that this message can also be normal when attempting to access a theme directly from it’s folder, however all of the searching I did still seems to point to incorrectly edited or corrupted files. I hope this gets you going in the right direction!
