• Hi,

I tried exporting my old WordPress blog and using the import feature of my new www.ads-software.com blog to Import the posts. However only a small subset of the posts got imported, but the comments weren’t imported.

    QUestions:
    1. The file seems to be very big and unwieldy to upload using the Import facility. Is there a way I can FTP it into my new WordPress site?

    2. HOw do I ensure that all the comments are also imported. WHen I exported, I made sure that I chose all the options to export everything, including comments.

    THanks for the help.

I don’t have a solution for you but I can answer your question about FTP. It’s not possible since post and comment data are stored in SQL databases, not FTP server files.

Actually the ‘export’ facility enables me to export all my posts and comments to a single XML file, which can be imported to the new WP blog.

I’m just wondering if there’s a way to FTP that XML file to my new WP server’s file system, and then run the ‘import’ utility on that uploaded file.
