Change the slug inside Snippet Editor and 301 redirect

Hello, I have about 250 posts inside wordpress and recently i began to use the yoast seo plugin and as i have long urls for the posts i has changed the slug inside the snippet editor for each post, what i want to know if this is enough or i need to add a 301 redirect in my htaccess? As I see when i change the slug is done a redirect from the old slug to the new slug, but this redirect transfer the “strong” of the old url to the new one?
