Outdated Plugins should be automatcally removed from your plugin library

  • I foolishly downloaded a plugin that hadn’t been updated for for years or tested on any version above 3.2.2. Not only did iot not worked but it continually loads an outdated JQuery Library that that buggers up core wp-admin functions, and most probably any other themes or plugins that use javascript. What’s more there was not support, You really should have a policy of archiving off plugins like this outdated this cause novices like me will download them and waste days trying to find the route cause.

    First you need to find a way to accurately determine a plugin that will break on your installation. You can’t use the date it was last updated for that.

    Just because a plugin is old doesn’t necessarily mean it doesn’t work, so a blanket rule like that wouldn’t be fair on plugin developers who make things that don’t actually need to be changed.

    If you try out an older plugin that isn’t tested up to your own version, you can always remove it if it doesn’t work and provide feedback via that plugin’s support forum.

    @piplong: That plugin already is “archived off”.

    Any plugin older than 2 years does not come up in searches *unless* you type the exact name of the plugin, in which case it will only come up as the first result.
