Automatically email customer after order is placed

Hello there,

I’d like to send a customer a notification when their order is placed, like a thank you with the details. As is it looks like I can only send emails to the customer if I mark it as processing or finished. But I’d like to send one confirming it was received. Is there a way to do that? I don’t see the option under Settings > email.
