2.5 database importing problem

  • when i import a database, i get the message

    invalid file

    Please upload a valid WXR (WordPress eXtended RSS) export file.

    i tried uploading the same database onto my other blog which is still running 2.3 and it works fine.

  • A database dump, which is just text version of the MySQL queries needed to restore your database, is different from a WXR export file.

    You can restore a database dump using phpMyAdmin, which is usually part of your site’s control panel.

    i found out the problem. forgot to mention that the file importing were split into parts,

    wordpress.xml.1, wordpress.xml.2 etc

    the original export file was split up, randomly cut and paste into a new part

    uploading each part in worked in v2.3.1,
    but in v2.5 i could upload part 1, but would get the error message for part 2 and so on.
