404 error when saving plugin options, takes me to wp-admin/options.php

    I receive a 404 error that leads me to wp-admin / options.php while trying to update a WP QUADS options.

    I also get the same error 404 if I access the page wp-admin / options.php and try to save the settings.

    On a previous occasion it happened, but then solved not remember if when installing new versions of WP or when updated some .htaccess rules (or permalinks). But I’ve tried to put the default .htaccess, and update permalinks, and nothing …

    Can you help me wit this please?

  • The solution is to lower permission restrictions!

    “script” tags must be allowed in form input fields.
    This can be also an apache mod_security concern or wordfence security issue.

    One of your security adjustments either in server or plugin settings is preventing adsense code to be saved on the plugin’s admin page. Most times it is just the script tag which is blocked. You can check this with pasting the adsense code without the script tag. If this is stored without 404 erro you know that any security setting on your site is preventing you from this.

    so first, i will configure Wordfence on Learning mode or disabled for not blocking ads. It′s ok?

    And the most important thing, how can i allow the script tags?

    It′s a job for the hosting or can i do something?

    Try first if deactivating solves it for you, if not ask your hoster if they allow you to use a script tag on your admin dashboard and to create a new filter in the mod_security plugin of your server.

    I don’t have Wordfence installed on this install of wordpress. I do have Wordfence installed on other blogs on this site, though. Could that be the problem?
