• Anybody know of a hack or plug-in that would generate 3 random pics that link to the gallery for the sidebar?
I’m looking for something like psngallery for coppermine. I’ve been using that along with coppermine, but coppermine is clumsly and unattactive and has way too many options for my simple gallery. I like the simple elegance of Singapore and would like to duplicate what psngallery does, just for Singapore.
I’m not a coder, but am willing to learn new techniques. I’m currently working my way through an intro-to-php book.
    Thanks!

I’ve managed to add WP code to the default Singapore templates to give a consistent look and feel throughout the blogs and the gallery.
If you want to see the modified Neat template codes, let me know.
I’m still working on adding random thumbnails to my menubar that link to the gallery.
If anyone has any ideas, let me know. I’ve been working on this all afternoon and I don’t know if I’m going to figure it out anytime soon.
    Thanks!

Just put the thumbnail (created by Singapore) in the excerpt field, then use a plugin like random posts/excerpt to create the display of the images. You could also put a direct link to the photo in Singapore or the post that talks about it.

I don’t want the images to show in the post; I want them in the sidebar, so unless I’m not understanding correctly, the excerpt won’t work because that deals with posts.
    Thanks, though!

Sorry I know nothing about Singapore. However there’s a few very simple random image selectors out there, I have previously used one by Nenad Motika that is easy to deploy. If all the pics you want to select from are in one directory, and you find a way to generate a thumbnail in php, it should do what you want.

rsbenedict: actually, it doesn’t show up in the post. If you look on https://massform.com , I have the thumbnails dynamically generated by Singapore (which are square), and they do not show up anywhere in the post. If you click on the archives, you only see the thumbs since they are in the excerpt field. By using a random excerpt code somewhere on the front page, you can do what you are asking.
