    Hi,

I am very happy with MH Magazine lite. But there is one issue I did not get a solution for:

When clicking on a featured or any other image in an article the image always is shown in an empty browser view and not as lightbox overlay. I tested 5 or more plugins, none of them work.

Which plugin will work with MH Magazine lite or how can I use the highslide/lightbox feature for images?

    Thanks.

  • Hi noapi1,

thanks for using MH Magazine lite and we’re very happy that you like the theme.

When clicking on a featured or any other image in an article the image always is shown in an empty browser view and not as lightbox overlay.

That is normal because that is what browsers do when you add links to images that will be opened in new browser windows or tabs.

We can’t recommend a particular plugin because we haven’t tested any specific plugins and can’t tell you which one is the most preferred. However, you could try some of the popular lightbox plugins in the plugin directory and then see if that meets your requirements.

Usually lightbox plugins filter the content and then add a class to the particular images which then gets triggered when you click on the image to open the image within a lightbox. After you’ve implemented such a plugin, you should make sure to clear your browser cache and in case you’re using a caching plugin, you should clear the cache of the plugin as well.

Thanks, but I tried all your recommendations – without success. Please check by yourself: There is something strange in your theme, perhaps in functions.php, which prevents lightbox from working. I read about this issue on another website.

It is very strange, that NONE of the lightbox plugins work with your theme.

Sorry, but the theme really doesn’t do anything that would prevent a lightbox plugin from working, unless the lightbox plugin isn’t implemented or configured correctly.

You might want to ensure that all your plugins within your WordPress installation are up-to-date and also ensure that there are no other plugin conflicts on your website. That means disable your other plugins and then try one of the popular lightbox plugins.

Please also note that the lightbox plugin will only affect images within your post content, the images which you’ve embedded manually as that are the images that are available through the WP content filter. The lightbox plugin won’t affect the automatic featured image as that image isn’t linked anyway and isn’t located within the content itself.

You also might want to check some other user sites as it seems that lightbox plugins are working fine for other people. Here some examples: Post 1, Post 2 and Post 3.

You’ll notice that the linked images open within a lightbox without any issues. The mentioned websites for example are using the following plugins Gallery or FancyBox. But again, other plugins should also work fine and if they are not, then you would need to do some throubleshooting on your website, see what is blocking the lightbox (usually other scripts or plugins) and then fix it…

Ah, this was the right hint. Thanks. Now I got it to work.

You’re very welcome and good luck with your website.
