Site admins are privileged users in BuddyPress in that the normal rules do not apply to them. Site admins can see and manage all groups and group content regardless of group status (public, private or hidden). Would this explain what you’re seeing? If not, can you provide more detail of your situation?

    Hello,

    – I have the propagation set for upstream
    – I am admin to a root group
    – I am a member of other sub-groups of the root
    – I don’t see propagation from the sub groups at any point

    so to site admin

    – I add site admin to root group
    – I add admin to a few more sub groups
    – site admin can see the propagation of the sub-groups n the root group.

Not sure why only the site admin would see the propagation on not others.

    Thanks for your help.

I cannot reproduce this at all, no matter how complex I make the hierarchy. Can you provide exact steps so that I can test? Also, do you have any other plugins active that might be interfering?

Hello. Thanks for the feedback. There has been alot of custom dev done, and I know the site has a couple of glitches which are being checked out. Either of which could be causing issues. One question. Should your plugin propagate through hidden groups as well as normal groups? Thankyou.

My suspicion is that one of your other plugins or customisations is responsible.

Should your plugin propagate through hidden groups as well as normal groups?

Yes, as long as the user is a member of the hidden group. If not, then propagation will stop at the hidden group, even if users are members of groups below the hidden one.

By default BPGH itself doesn’t allow hidden groups to be assigned as parent groups – you have to create a hierarchy and then switch a group to hidden. Which suggests to me that such hierarchies are discouraged. You might want to take that up with ddean, but it looks like the plugin’s more-or-less abandoned.
