My site is damaged to the point that I cannot log in as admin. My service provider will be reinstalling WordPress. My plan had been to then install UpdraftPlus plugin so I can reach my backups in the cloud. Questions are should I install my theme before recovery? Do I have to install my plugins before recovering my plugins? There is a good probability that the version of WP will not be the same as mine (4.0) so what should I be aware of with regard to the proper order of restoration?

    Hi,

If you have a full backup set (i.e. including Plugins, Themes etc.), then you will not need to install plugins and themes before hand. You can restore those from the backup.

If restoring through UpdraftPlus in one go, UpdraftPlus will handle the order. If restoring section-by section, you will need to restore the database last.

You may also be prompted to update the database after the restoration. This is expected.
