    @johanna2patricia – You will need to import the images into NextGEN Gallery’s library and then use appropriate NextGEN Gallery inserted displays … there is no method for NextGEN Gallery to co-opt the WordPress [gallery] shortcode at this time.

    Thanks for bringing this idea to light!

    Thanks Cais. I thought so.
    Well at least the site will be completely new then.

    You could try a site migration plugin such as the excellent Updraftplus plugin to transfer your site and nextgen shortcodes.

    @ Cais, I think it will work ok. I exported and imported everything and also used the Cache images plugin to get all images in the media library. That way I have most of the files.
    I installed Nextgen and set the settings to Fancybox and “Try to apply to all images that link to image files”.
    And that works great! I think 80% is working in the lightbox now.
    So I think I will try that and edit the other ones.
    @padraigbeirne – never heard of the Updraftplus plugin, but I will investigate it. Thanks!

    @johanna2patricia – Great to read!

    Thanks!

    PS: Migrations can be a bit tricky when NextGEN Gallery is involved (don’t forget about the Reset Option) so any updates related to UpdraftPlus would be great too.
