    Hi there,

first of all, thanks for the great plugin. I think it is pretty feature rich and well thought.

However, I have some feature suggestions:
I am currently looking for a plugin to redirect only some of my pages/posts. In my case I want to redirect them to an error page or maybe to another site (I have multisite enabled).

Even if your plugin does focus on another area (more on security level then usability/frontend), I think that the code base of your plugin is good enough to make this plugin more feature-rich and outstanding. I especially like the way how your plugin is automatically updating the geo IP data from the service providers. All other plugins I tested so far are missing such a functionality.

It would be really nice if you would integrate such a feature.
I just tested a commercial plugin for that purpose (https://codecanyon.net/item/wp-geoip-country-redirect/3589163) and that is just so badly coded that I would just love to see such a functionality in your plugin. I dont mind paying some bucks for it..

    Best,
    Mario

    Dear Mario,

Thank you for your kind suggestion. Actually, I sometimes had similar suggestions or proposals. And for these days, I’ve been thinking about how I can contribute to community demands.

I created a very simple POC model in https://github.com/tokkonopapa/Wordpress-ip-geo-block/tree/3.0.0a and installed it in my site to find out my approach. For example, how should it handle good bots? How should it handle cache plugins (I’m a user of WP Super Cache)? How should it to speed up the validation of country code? …

I think it takes a very long time for me to answer those questions. But I’d keep thinking.

Once I close this toppic, but please feel free to discuss about it.

    Best regards,
    tokkonopapa

    Hi tokkonopapa,

thank you for your quick answer.

I like that you are thinking about all the aspects that would make the feature an elaborate solution for this problem. It gives me the feeling that the plugin is in good hands.. ??
As a coder on my own I know that such a thinking is sometimes limiting in terms of solution-orientation ??

I’m looking forward to seeing such a feature in a future release of your plugin. Thank you for considering!

If you want, I can send you the plugin I bought for this problem so you can have a look at how it is solved there (not really good in my opinion, but good enough). The PHP code is licensed under GPL, so no problems with copyright.

    Best,
    Mario

    Hi Mario,

You gave me another good suggestion:

As a coder on my own I know that such a thinking is sometimes limiting in terms of solution-orientation ??

I deeply agree with you. I’d like to keep the basic concept of this plugin to be consistent. So I should not think about “how” at first, but “why” people wants to block a certain type of accesses.

You can find my email address in https://github.com/tokkonopapa and I appreciate you if I can have a chance to glance good codes.

    Thanks, Mario.

    Dear Mario,

I released the 3.0.0 beta version which is equipped with the function of blocking front page. I wonder if the current feature is enough or not.

I’d appreciate if you check out “call for testing” and take time to test it.

    Thanks.
