Hi I have successfully managed to link a facebook page to my website with the hope of publicising posts both new and historically. However I am not having much luck trying to publicise a post which has already been published. I have looked through various articles about publicising posts and they all seem to refer to posts that haven’t yet been published.
I also have the Yoast seo plugin to enable me to use a different picture when publicising on Facebook as I think it is best if the picture is resized as otherwise only a part of the picture is shown.
    Any advice gratefully received.

Jetpack’s Publicize feature only shares freshly published posts. For posts which have already been published, you’ll need to share them directly on the social network, just like you’d share any other link there.

Many thanks for clarification on this.

    You’re welcome!

NextScripts Social Network autoposter lets you repost an article to FB (probably other SM). It works – needed to update my FB password but yeah! I really like NextScripts also.

    hope this helps. Lindy

Publicize only works for brand new posts that have never been published before. You cannot re-publicize something once it has already been published.

This is misleading. If you have never Pubilicized a post and you update it with Publicize turned on it will Publicize it.

I went back and updated some postes today, old published posts from years ago, and when I did they posted to my Facebook and Linked in. I have to go and delete them from my social sites because they were so old.

So, if you’ve never Publicized a post just click Update and it will be pushed to your social sites.

Unless this is a recent bug…

@phail – I am updating just the date (to re-publish) and the checkbox for publicize is not clickable. What are you updating with success?

If it was never publicized then it will be clickable. I’ve noticed this when I was editing very old posts and they were going out to all my syndication targets unwanted.

    oops.
