Images not loading in Jetpack tiled gallery

It seems that your images are very large, and some take more than 10 seconds to load, causing Photon to fail to download them.

Could you try to upload smaller images? 5MB is too big to display on the web; even if the images could be downloaded in less than 10 seconds, it would still be very long to load your page when you don’t have a great Internet connection. In general, I think it’s probably best to avoid uploading images that are larger than 1MB.

Thanks for the help! I thought if I limit the image size in Settings -> Media it should work. Does this do a different thing or why doesn’t this help?

As soon as I switch to thumbnail grids instead of the tiled gallery it works, even if I choose larger image sizes. Thats what I find strange.

As soon as I have time I will minify the images and try if this helps.

These settings are useful when you use the thumbnails generated by WordPress when the image is uploaded. Tiled Galleries, on the other hand, start from the original image, and those aren’t resized when you upload them.

What would be the way to go if I want full size images for the fullscreen slide show but small thumbnails for the grid?

You can still have a full screen slide show image that is less than 1 MB in size. Photon will resize them to display smaller images in your gallery, and will retain the original size for the slide show or carousel ( https://jetpack.com/support/carousel/ ).
