Secure blog page to password protect

  • Hello All –
    I’m working to create a family blog that is posted to by family only (done) and read by family only. (Not done.)
    How can I secure the blog folder page so that our family blog is not public?
    Right now, I have a link on the site for my family that brings them to the log-in screen but with a simple delete, I can open the wordpress main folder which then defaults to the index page – thus easy reading.
    Trust me…we aren’t swapping any secrets….not even. However, we would like to make it private.
    Is this possible? (Man…does this bather make sense?)

  • You could password protect the directory that WP lives in. (through cpanel or the like, or create .htaccess and .htpasswd files by hand)

    I’m looking to create an online journal on my site…allowing members to login to a private writing area on my site. The key is each member’s writings must be kept private (accessible only to their own view). How would I go about this?

    “a directory per member…a separate install per member…” That seems like an awful amount of work. I noticed on a screenshot that the user can determine if they want the post to remain private. How secure is that?

    I am getting header errors when I try the plug-in mentioned above. He discusses that a few times … but the help isn’t real clear for the average user.
