  • Same thing here…

    It’s working on my Local environment but it doesn’t work on my Staging env. (I don’t see the “Compress” button there). On Staging I’m using these plugins in a multisite installation:

    • Amazon Web Services (version 0.3.6).
    • WP Offload S3 Lite (version 1.0.4).

    Both plugins are “Network Activated”.

    FYI I’m using:

    • WordPress 4.5.3.
    • TinyPNG (version 1.7.2).

    Any help?

    I’m seeing the same thing

    example:

    https://d3cwaan6349gvc.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/8312-2-800×524.jpg

    I’m using WP offload s3 (full version) V 1.1.4

    The files are uploaded to S3 and hosted after on amazon CDN Cloudfront.

    None of the images seem to be optimizing prior yet looks like they count as optimized.

    when I run the link through tinypng.com manually I got a -19% on that particular image which tells me srcset versions are not being all optimized.

    btw I’m suing Version 2.0.0 of TinyPNG WP plugin.

    Hi guys,

    Thanks for the reports!

    I’ve given the Lite version of WP Offload S3 a try, and for me it works fine with both version 1.7.2 and 2.0.1 of our plugin.
    I’ve done two tests for both versions of the plugin for which I used the default settings for the “WP Offload S3 Lite” plugin:

    1) I added an image with “WP Offload S3 Lite” and “Compress JPEG & PNG images” both enabled. The image sizes on my filesystem were compressed, and the image sizes in my S3 bucket were compressed as well.

    2) I added an image with “WP Offload S3 Lite” enabled and “Compress JPEG & PNG images” disabled. The image sizes were uploaded to the bucket I specified as uncompressed images. I then enabled the “Compress JPEG & PNG images” plugin, and manually clicked on “Compress” next to an image in the Media Library. This compressed the images on my filesystem and also updated the images on S3 with the compressed images.

    @truelux: Any specific settings you changed, or other plugins that you are using that might process your images?

    @nadalsol: Are you not seeing the “Compress” button in the Media Library for images that haven’t been compressed yet? And it doesn’t show a details link there either?

    @mrzimmy: What exactly do you mean with “None of the images seem to be optimizing prior yet looks like they count as optimized.”? Could you give us some more information? What do you notice if you check the details of a compressed image, and compare the file sizes you see there with the file sizes in your uploads folder and those on S3?

    Hi @tinypng ,

    This is exactly what I see

    Am I missing something?

    Are you only getting this for images that were already added to WordPress before you installed our plugin, or also for new images that you’re adding to WordPress?

    Could you also try updating to the latest version of our plugin? I don’t expect that to fix this problem, but that makes it easier for us to identify what would be going on, and in case there is a bug, fix it.

    @tinypng

    I don’t see the “Compress” button on any image (existing or new, it doesn’t matter).

    What I’ve noticed is that existing images are “0 sizes compressed” while the new ones are “4 sizes compressed”.

    Just take a look at these screenshots to see what I mean.

    PS: I’ve updated the plugin to the latest version (2.0.2) by the way

    Do you happen to have the “Remove Files From Server” option enabled for the “WP Offload S3 Lite” plugin? That would explain why you’re seeing status like “File removed” and “Not present”. In order for our plugin to work, this setting shouldn’t be enabled.

    Yes, I have the “Remove Files From Server” option enabled.

    I’ve disabled the option and now it works!

    Nonetheless I still don’t see the “Compress” button. I mean, every time I upload a new image to the Media Library it gets automatically compressed.

    I see something like this:

    6 sizes compressed
    Total savings 74%
    Details

    But, as I said, no “Compress” button appears…

    Is there a way to do this manually, via the “Compress” button?

    Thanks a lot for your help!

    Good to hear it works now!

    The existing images are only present on S3 and got deleted from your WordPress uploads folder. This is why the plugin can’t compress these images.

    The simplest solution is to re-upload the images. I would recommend this if it’s not a large number of images. Alternatively, you can try restoring the images with the correct file names to the WordPress uploads folder. The plugin should then be able to find the images and compress them.

    @tinypng that makes sense.
    Thanks for the tips!

    @tinypng,

    I have the same problem i.e “Remove Files From Server” option is enabled for the “WP Offload S3 Lite” plugin. So all images are there in S3 but not in the filesystem. I want to use “Bulk Optimization” to optimize all of them in one shot. So when I visit Bulk Optimization page, it shows “Your entire library is optimized!”. Maybe because images are not there on the local filesystem. So downloaded some images from S3 and put them on local filesystem with the exact filepath, but it still shows the same message. What am I doing wrong here?

    Thanks
