    sent email to support and received the falling response:

    “The typical cause of this is that your contributor does not have enough capabilities to manage your custom post type. You would have to figure out what capability is assigned to custom post type menu and make sure it is checked for contributor role.”

    I was able to resolve the issue per their notes.
