• I’ve just upgraded to the latest version, 2.5.1 from 2.5 and it’s still showing I’m running 2.5 and that I need to update.

    Is this normal? Any other time I’ve upgraded it’s shown the latest version being run right away.

  • I’d first consider deleting the WordPress files, then reupload, per Steps 7 and 8 in Upgrading_WordPress_Extended.

    I’ve done this 7 times, actually. Each time I get the same result. I’ve cleared the cache. Deleted everything and repeated it. Still, I get the same thing every time.

    I’ve just wiped out the database (after backing it up of course) and have reinstalled 2.5.1. I’m in the process of importing the old files, so I guess I’ll see how that goes. :/

    Now when I try to import the sql file, I get this;

    Premature end of script headers: php: Please check /usr/local/cpanel/logs/error_log for the exact error.

    I’ve never had this kind of trouble upgrading.. I don’t know what the dern deal is.

    I’m sorry to keep replying but I’m still having issues. I wiped out my database, as I mentioned above.. deleted WordPress entirely and reinstalled. In still shows WP 2.5 with a new install, which is strange. I think this is a bug with the download file at this point.. though I could be wrong.

    My new issue is that the page templates aren’t working. I have created a separate template for my “about me” page, but it’s no longer functioning. Any ideas about what that may be?

    Yup, I got the same problem. Deleted all my old files, uploaded new. It did ask to update the data base. But when you go in, it’s all the same. Still says it’s 2.5, and I should upgrade!

    Actually weird stuff is going on, buttons are fading and flashing, uploader does not work, which I know was suppose to be fixed in 2.5.1.

    Guess we need a 2.5.2

    This is something I found on a site that had been recently hacked. Look for a wp-info.txt file in your main wordpress install directory (if you’ve wiped the contents out it may be too late to look for it.) But the latest hack seems to install 2 phantom plugins that don’t show up in your admin panel list of plugins – only in the wp-options table of the wordpress database (you’ll have to look via phpmyadmin). More details in… https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/168964?replies=30 that thread – including comments.

    OK, I found a strange file called: mtw-wordcount.php.jpgg. I’m not sure what that is and it’s never been there until about a minute ago.

    I checked the other thread and I’m not sure how to check phpmyadmin for that, exactly where do I find what I’m supposed to search for – for those “phantom” plugins?

    BTW, thanks for the help.

    Yeah.. me again.

    Now the themes in my wp-content/themes folder aren’t showing up. They’re there in FTP and the files show in the editor when clicked but the theme isn’t displaying on the blog itself. Any ideas?
