I just updated WP to 4.5.3 and now the new post notifications (the only notifications I have set up) aren’t being sent. I’m not sure if this is an issue with 4.5.3 or something separate from that. That’s the only change I know of that happened between when the notifications worked and when they stopped working. Just want to confirm if this is the problem before tearing apart the rest of my site looking for a solution.

    Hi justinsnow,
    Thanks for your message.

I’ve just checked this and I can confirm that it’s working correctly for me.

If you’re not receiving emails since the update to 4.5.3, can you install the Email Log plugin and see if they’re registered there or install an SMTP plugin to ensure emails are sent correctly from WordPress.

    Thanks,
    Jack

Thanks for the suggestion, Jack. It looks like the emails are indeed being sent out by WP, and a new test post triggered the notification like normal.

My question now is what might have happened in the process of creating a new post that would make it bypass the New Post Published trigger? I notice the post that didn’t get a notification sent out has 2 revisions. Is there something you’re aware of, like saving a draft, or scheduling a post, that would make that trigger get skipped?

Also, is it possible to manually set off a trigger? Specifically, I’d like to send out a notification for this post that didn’t originally get one.

    Hi justinsnow,

So are you saying that the notifications that you set up in BNFW are being sent out by WordPress, just haven’t been received since the update to 4.5.3?

Currently, there’s no way to re-send notifications.
My only advice would be to install an SMTP plugin so that the PHP mail function that WordPress sends all email via is bypassed and uses the more reliable SMTP method which should prevent emails being mislaid in the future.

    Thanks,
    Jack
