Making sidebar dynamic

I am currently using the dark cash theme and want to be able to add icons to my category list.

I have a plugin that should allow me to do this, however cannot seem to edit my sidebar to be widget ready. I have followed instructions and still can’t seem to get it.

My site is ventvox.com and I am a beginner with wordpress. Any help would be appreciated!
